Re-connecting Your Hive 2 Thermostat to the Receiver

Action

  1. Remove the Thermostat from the Wall:

    • Press the tab underneath the thermostat to remove it from the wall.
    • Take out one battery.

  2. Move to the Receiver:

    • Take your thermostat to the receiver, usually located near the boiler or hot water tank. Image

  3. Power Cycle the Boiler:

    • Turn off your boiler using the mains isolation switch (the lights will go out).
    • Turn it back on (the lights will come on).

  4. Activate Pairing Mode on the Receiver:

    • Press and hold the central heating button (bottom right) on your receiver until the status light (top right) double flashes amber.
    • If it flashes pink, release and press again until it double flashes amber.

  5. Reset the Thermostat:

    • Reinsert the battery into your thermostat.
    • Press and hold the back and menu keys (bottom left and middle) until the screen shows ‘factory reset’ and counts down from 10 to 0. Image
    • Release the buttons when ‘welcome’ appears. The thermostat will then display ‘searching’ with a timer.

  6. Repeat if Necessary:

    • If anything else appears on the thermostat screen, repeat step 5.

  7. Use the App to Complete Setup:

    • In the app, tap Manage > Install devices > Hive active heating > Add heating zone > Start > Find thermostat.

  8. Wait for the Hub to Find Devices:

    • The hub will search for devices. When found, the receiver’s status light (top right) will turn solid green, and the thermostat will display ‘let’s take a tour’.

    After re-connecting, the thermostat offers a tour of its native functions. This can be skipped by pressing the back arrow. If no action is taken for 10 seconds, the tour will automatically start.
     
    Once the tour begins, you must follow the on-screen prompts to complete it, as it can no longer be exited using the back arrow.
     
    Steps to complete the tour:
     
    Click the dial.
    Twist the dial.
    Press the back arrow.
    Press the menu button.
    Press the tick button.
    Press the heating boost button.
    Press the hot water boost button.
     
    The thermostat display will then display “Great!” for about 5 seconds. After this, you can press the back arrow to return to normal operation.

  9. Stop the Hub from Searching:

    • Stop the hub from searching by backing out of the page. Your devices will show as online.

  10. Test the Boiler:

    • Raise the target temperature above the room temperature on the thermostat to test your boiler.
