Understanding and Using the Ready By on your Hive Active Heating

Ready By is a smarter way to control your heating. Hive determines when your boiler should be turned on so that your home reaches your desired temperature by the time you get out of bed or arrive home, similar to pre-heating an oven.

For example, if you set the temperature to 20°C at 7am and it is 16°C in the house beforehand, Hive will calculate when to start your boiler so that the temperature reaches 20°C by 7am. This is different from the standard method where the heating would not switch on until 7am.

Please Note:

  • The maximum time frame Ready By would activate is 1 hour before the scheduled time-slot.
  • If your home heats slowly or is large, it may not be possible to reach the target temperature by the start of the time-slot. In such cases, Ready By might not be suitable for you.

To activate or deactivate the Ready By feature on your Hive Active Heating, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Hive App:

    • Launch the Hive app on your device.

  2. Select Heating:

    • From your dashboard, select your thermostat.

  3. Tap Settings:

    • Navigate to “Settings”.

  4. Toggle Ready By:

    • Find and tap “Ready by” and swipe the toggle to the right to switch it on or off.

You can also enable Ready By via the thermostat:

  1. Navigate the Thermostat Menu:
    • Go to Menu -> Heat -> Schedule -> Start Over -> Press Dial -> Be at Temperature.

 NOTE: This feature is not available on the Hive 1 or Hive Thermostat Mini.
