Answer

Several Hive products are compatible with Apple Home, allowing control via the Apple Home app and Siri voice commands.

Compatible Hive Devices:

  • Hive Active Heating: Control heating, adjust temperature, set schedules, and create automations.
  • Hive Radiator Valves: Manage room temperatures with precision.
  • Hive Lights (All Models): Control lights, dim, and change colors.
  • Hive Active Plugs: Control connected appliances, set schedules, and create routines.

Important Note:

  • Hot Water Control: Not supported by Apple Home. Use the Hive app for hot water management.

Using HomeKit:

  • Apps: Use Apple’s Home app and Siri alongside or instead of the Hive Plus app. Note that some Hive features are not available in the Home app or Siri.
  • Voice Control: Control devices with Siri, e.g., “Set the heating to 21 degrees,” “Set the living room lights to 30%,” or “All lights off.”

Hive-Specific Features Not Supported by HomeKit:

  • Heating Boost
  • Schedules (for any device)
  • Actions
  • Quick Actions

These features will still work if enabled from the Hive Plus app but cannot be controlled via the Home app or Siri.

Troubleshooting HomeKit Setup Issues

Troubleshooting HomeKit Setup Issues

If you’re having trouble setting up HomeKit with Hive, follow these steps:

Common Issues and Solutions:

  1. HomeKit App Asking for an 8-Digit Code:

    • Ensure you’re enabling Apple HomeKit via the Hive app, not the Home app.
  2. Not Signed into iCloud:

    • Sign into your iCloud account in the Settings app.
    • Ensure ‘iCloud Drive’ and ‘Hive’ switches are enabled under Settings > Apple ID > iCloud.
  3. Not Connected to Home WiFi Network:

    • Ensure your phone is on the same WiFi network as your Hive Hub.
    • Disable any active VPN.
    • If using a mesh network, ensure the Hive Hub is connected to the main router.
    • Verify that the hub, HomeKit, and phone are all on the same WiFi network.

Additional Information:

  • Device Support: More devices may be supported in the future based on customer feedback.
  • Unexpected Device Behavior: If devices change state unexpectedly, it may be due to Hive Schedules or Actions. Use the Hive app to manage these features or disable them and use equivalent features in the Home app.
  • Hot Water Control: Not supported by HomeKit.
