How to Invite Someone to Access Your Hive Home
- Tap the ‘People’ option from the App menu.
- Tap ‘Invite’.
- Select which permission you would like to grant.
- Enter the name of your invited person (only enter the invitee’s name here, not their email address).
- Tap ‘Send Invite’.
- A pop-up will appear with a pre-filled invite that you will need to send to your invitee. The pop-up will allow you to choose how you would like to send the invite (e.g., email, SMS, WhatsApp, etc.). Choose your delivery method and send the invite.
Once your invitee follows the instructions and accepts the invite, they will be able to access your devices from their account. You’ll be able to see the status of the invite on the ‘People’ screen.
NOTE: Your invitee needs to have the Hive app installed and have registered their own account before they can gain access to your devices (as per the instructions in the invite).
Troubleshooting Invitations
Invitation Not Arrived?
- Check the delivery method (e.g., email, SMS, WhatsApp, etc.) via which you sent the invite to confirm that the invite was indeed sent. If the invite was not sent, you can send a new invite by following these steps:
- Cancel the original invite by visiting the ‘People’ screen when viewing your own home, selecting the person in question, and tapping ‘Cancel Invite’.
- Tap ‘Invite’ again to send a new invite.
- Choose the Permission level and then tap ‘Next’.
- Enter the name of the person you are inviting, and tap ‘Send Invite’.
- Wait for the share invite pop-up to appear and then select a method to share the invite.
When your invited guest accepts the invite, their status on the ‘People’ screen will change from ‘Pending’ to either ‘Partner’ or ‘Family’ depending on what permission level you have set.
