Controlling Your Heating Devices When Offline

If your heating devices are offline and cannot be used via the app, you can still control your boiler using the devices themselves.

Our in-app troubleshooting journey should help bring your devices back online and restore full functionality. However, if you have tried this and are currently awaiting further support, follow the steps below to control your heating in the meantime.

1. Check Your Thermostat:

   • Wake the thermostat by pressing any button on the screen so that it illuminates.
   • If you can control your target temperature as normal from here, you can use this method until you can re-pair your heating devices with the Hive Hub and regain app control.

2. Manual Override on Hive Receiver:

   • If your thermostat cannot control the room temperature directly, use the manual override button on your Hive Receiver.
   • Locate your Hive Receiver, usually found near the boiler or sometimes near a hot water tank.  TIP: See the image at the bottom for what your receiver looks like. 

   For Combi Boilers:

   • Your receiver will have one button and a corresponding light in the bottom right.
   • Press this button to turn your heating on or off as needed. If the light directly above (or around) the button is off, it indicates that the control is off. Pressing it once will turn it on, and vice versa.

   For Conventional Boilers:

   • Your receiver will have two buttons in the bottom right - one for heating and one for hot water.

   • Press these buttons to turn your heating (or hot water) on or off as needed. If the light directly above (or around) the button is off, it indicates that the control is off. Pressing it once will turn it on, and vice versa.

By following these steps, you can maintain control over your heating system even if your devices have lost connection with the hub.

Hive Receiver
