Answer

We understand that moving home can be a busy time, so we have a Home Move process to help both the current owner and the new owner continue their Hive journey smoothly.

Current Homeowner

When selling your property, it is a legal obligation to leave working heating controls for the next occupant. Therefore, you should not remove the receiver and thermostat from the property. Instead, take your Hive Hub and any other Hive devices with you to your new home, leaving the receiver and thermostat behind.

If You're Leaving the Hub for the New Homeowner

Follow these steps to detach the hub:

  1. Hold the Button: Press and hold the button on the back of the hub for 5 seconds, then release it. The red LED on the front of the hub will flash 3 times.
  2. Wait: Wait for 5 seconds.
  3. Repeat: Press and hold the button on the back of the hub again for 5 seconds, then release it. The red LED on the front of the hub will flash 3 times.
  4. Check LEDs: All LEDs on the hub should now go off.
  5. Successful Detach: If successful, the hub will display a solid green LED for 5 seconds, then red/amber while the hub triggers the hub-restore service, and finally flashing green as the hub begins its new start-up with no account linked.  NOTE: Ensure the hub has turned solid green before onboarding to the new account.
  6. Unsuccessful Detach: If unsuccessful, the hub will display a solid red LED for 5 seconds before returning to its normal state. Please retry from step 1 to detach the hub.

The Hive Hub will now return to its normal state, and you will be able to link the hub to your email via the Hive App.

By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth transition for both yourself and new homeowners, keeping your Hive system up and running without any issues.
