What to Do if Your Hive Sensors Are Offline

  1. Remove and Reinsert Battery: Take out the battery for 10 seconds, then put it back in.
  2. Wait and Refresh: Wait 5 minutes, then refresh the Hive app. The sensor should show as ‘Connected’.
  3. Retry Near Hive Hub: If still offline, repeat Step 1 but stand close to the Hive Hub when replacing the battery.
  4. Change Battery: If the sensor remains offline, try changing the battery.

Resetting Your Pet Friendly/Hive Motion Sensor

Before November 2016:

  1. Slide off the back cover and remove the battery.
  2. Locate the small white button, put the battery back, and press the button 10 times.
  3. Look for a green light that stays on for 5 seconds, then starts double flashing.
  4. Follow the steps in the Hive app to add the device.

After November 2016:

  1. Slide the front of the case up.
  2. Hold the small red button for about 10 seconds.
  3. Look for a green light that flashes once, then an amber light indicating pairing mode.
  4. Follow the steps in the Hive app to add the device.

Pet Friendly Sensor:

  1. Press and hold the button on the side for around 8 seconds until the light blinks red.
  2. Release the button and wait for the light to change to flashing amber.
  3. Follow the steps in the Hive app to add the device.

Changing Your Pet Friendly/Hive Motion Sensor Battery

Changing the battery on your sensor depends on when you bought it.

If you bought your sensor before November 2016, to change the battery:

  1. Press firmly on the markings on the larger part of the Hive Motion Sensor and pull off the front of the case and then pull the used battery out.
  2. Insert the new battery taking care to make sure the battery is the right way round so that the '+' and '-" ends of the battery match the ends illustrated inside the casing.
  3. Replace the front casing, clicking it into place.

If you bought your Sensor from November 2016, to change the battery:

  1. Slide the front of the case up and pull the used battery out.
  2. Insert the new battery taking care to make sure the battery is the right way round so that the '+' and '-"" ends of the battery match the ends illustrated inside the casing.
  3. Slide the front of the case back down.

If you have a Pet Friendly Motion Sensor, to change the battery:

  1. Slide the front of the case up and pull the used battery out.
  2. Insert the new battery taking care to make sure the battery is inserted so that the '+' and '-' ends of the battery match the ends illustrated inside the casing.
  3. Slide the front of the case back down.

When your Hive Motion Sensor's batteries have run out, we recommend replacing them with a Duracell Lithium battery CR123A.
