Answer

If your Hive thermostat shows a ‘No Signal’ message, it indicates a lost connection to the receiver. You might also see your heating listed as ‘offline’ in the Hive app. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Steps for Newer Thermostat Models

1. Remove the Thermostat from the Wall

  • Action: Press the tab on the base of the thermostat to detach it from the wall. For touch screen models, pull it away from the back plate.

2. Take the Thermostat to the Receiver

  • Action: Lift the thermostat off its hooks and bring it to the receiver near your boiler or hot water tank.

3. Reset the Thermostat

  • Action: Remove the batteries and immediately reinsert them. This will restart the thermostat and help re-establish the connection.

4. Reattach the Thermostat

  • Action: Place the thermostat back on the wall. It should display a ‘Reconnecting’ message.

5. Check the Connection

  • Action: Once the inside temperature is displayed, turn the heating on by rotating the dial clockwise or using the ^ icon on the Hive Thermostat Mini.

6. Verify the Status Lights

  • Action: If the heating is on, the thermostat will show an “ON” message or a flame icon on the Hive Thermostat Mini.

7. Confirm Connection

  • Action: Ensure the ‘status’ and ‘central heating’ lights on the receiver turn green.

If the ‘No Signal’ message persists, manually reset and pair your heating devices.

Additional Steps if the Issue Persists

NOTE: Resetting will erase any heating/hot water schedules you have set up.

1. Check and Restart the Hive Hub

  • Action: Ensure the Hive Hub is correctly placed. Restart it by switching it off at the wall socket and then back on. Wait 5-10 minutes for it to reboot, then refresh the Hive app dashboard.

2. Switch Off the Boiler

  • Action: Turn off the boiler at the isolation switch/fuse spur near your Hive Receiver. All receiver lights will go out.

3. Reset the Thermostat

  • Action: Press and hold the ‘back arrow’ and ‘menu’ buttons (or icons on touch screen models) until the display shows ‘Welcome, searching’.

4. Remove a Battery

  • Action: Take out a battery from the thermostat.

5. Switch On the Boiler

  • Action: Turn the boiler back on at the isolation switch/fuse spur. The receiver status light should flash pink or amber, then turn solid green. If it flashes pink, proceed to the next step.

6. Pair the Receiver

  • Action: Hold the central heating button on the receiver until the status light flashes pink. Release and hold again until it double flashes amber.

7. Put the Hub into Pairing Mode

  • Action: In the Hive app dashboard, at the bottom of the page, select ‘install new device, tap ‘Add a heating zone’, and then ‘start’ to start the hub’s search. Wait until the receiver status light single flashes amber.

8. Reinsert the Battery

  • Action: Put the battery back in the thermostat. It should display ‘Welcome, searching’. When ‘Search’ disappears, the receiver status light will turn green. The thermostat will then guide you through a welcome tour.

9. Refresh the App

  • Action: Wait 5 minutes, then refresh the Hive app dashboard. The ‘offline’ message should disappear. Ensure the inside temperature is displayed and try turning the heating on.

10. Confirm Final Connection

  • Action: If the heating turns on and the ‘status’ and ‘central heating’ lights on the receiver are green, the issue is resolved.
