Hive Plus Learning Period
Hive Plus offers personalised features like Budget Tracker, Schedule Assist, and Heating History costs. To provide these, it needs a learning period to understand your heating usage.
How It Works: Hive Plus builds a digital model of your home and energy use by analysing your heating habits and local weather. This requires 30 usable days of heating data from your Hive Thermostat.
Criteria for Usable Data:
- Heating on for no more than 12 hours in a 24-hour period.
- Outside temperature averages 15°C or below.
- Sensible target temperature set on the thermostat (not too high, e.g., 30°C).
- Thermostat optimally located in your home.
Duration: Collecting 30 usable days may take longer than 30 days due to weather conditions. Usable days are not consecutive, so progress resumes when conditions are met.
Existing Hive Thermostat Users: If your thermostat has been installed for a while, it may have already collected some usable data, reducing the learning period.
New Hive Thermostat Users: New installations will need to collect 30 days of usable data. The learning period may extend if started in warmer months.
Tracking Progress: Check the ‘track your progress’ page in the Hive app. The progress tracker shows 30 circles, each representing a day. A green tick appears for each usable day recorded.
Why Progress Might Not Update: If no new green ticks appear, it means usable data isn’t being collected, likely due to warm weather. The tracker updates automatically once a usable day is recorded.
