Hive Demo Mode

 CAUTION: If you put your Hive thermostat into demo it will disconnect it from your Hive Hub and Receiver, meaning you will need to reconnect it to those devices. For more information on this, please see Step-by-Step Guide to Reconnecting Your Hive Heating Devices.  

Demo mode on your Hive Thermostat is designed to showcase the device’s features without controlling your actual home heating. When enabled, it allows you to explore the thermostat’s menus, settings, and functions as though it were fully connected, but without making any real changes to your home’s temperature.

This mode is ideal if you’re new to the thermostat and want to get familiar with how everything works before using it day‑to‑day.

 NOTE: Demo mode was originally created to help test thermostat functionality, so it won’t interact with your heating system while active. 

Hive Thermostat Mini

To turn on Demo mode on your Hive Mini, you’ll need to restart the device first.
After it reboots, wait until you see one of the following screens:

  • Firmware version
  • Searching
  • Reconnecting

While on any of these screens, press and hold both the DOWN and UP buttons together for three seconds. Once Demo mode is activated, the device will show a Connected message, then switch to the current temperature screen.

If you want to exit Demo mode, you can do so by performing a factory reset. Simply press and hold the DOWN and HOME buttons at the same time for 10 seconds.

Hive Thermostat and Hard-Wired Thermostat

To activate Demo mode on your Hive Thermostat, start by rebooting the device.
Once it restarts, wait until you see one of these screens:

  • Firmware version
  • Searching
  • Reconnecting

While on any of these screens, press and hold the Hot Water Boost and Menu buttons together for three seconds to enter Demo mode.

If you want to exit Demo mode, you can do so by performing a factory reset. Simply press and hold the BACK ARROW and HOME buttons at the same time for 10 seconds.
