Inviting Others to Share Access

To invite someone to share access to your HomeShield, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Menu: Navigate to the People section.
  2. Select Invite: Click on Invite to start the process.
  3. Set Permissions: Choose the level of permissions you want to grant this person.
  4. Name the Invitee: Enter a name for the invitee (e.g., Dad, Robert).
  5. Assign a PIN: You can assign them a PIN. Remember to check your existing PINs to avoid duplication.
  6. Share the PIN: Share this PIN via the Hive app. Note that Guest PINs must be shared personally.
  7. Manage Access: You can amend permissions or remove access at any time.

Using HomeShield as an Invited Guest

If you’ve been invited to someone’s HomeShield, here’s how to get started:

  1. Receive the Invitation: You will get a message from the HomeShield owner through various platforms (text, email, WhatsApp, or Facebook). The message will look like this:

    “I’d like to invite you to join my home with Hive.”

  2. Get the Hive App: Download the Hive app from here.

  3. Create an Account: If you don’t have a Hive account, create one in the app. You’ll receive an email to activate your account.

  4. Accept the Invite: Click on the link provided in the invitation message to accept it:

  5. Access the Owner’s Home: Once you accept the invite, you can view the owner’s home in the Hive app. If this is your only Hive home, it will appear automatically.

  6. Switch Homes: If you have multiple homes, tap on the Menu at the top, select your Home, and choose from the dropdown list to switch to the new HomeShield home.

  7. Manage Notifications: You can now receive alarm notifications and manage your settings in the Notification Preferences section.

  8. View Permissions: Check your permission levels in the People section under the main menu.

Additional Features

Depending on your permission level, you can:

  • View activity timelines and events.
  • Edit mode settings.
  • View camera footage.
  • Set modes from the Keypad or app.
