Changing Your Keypad PIN

As the Owner of a HomeShield, you can change your own Keypad PIN in the Hive app by following these steps:

  1. Open the Menu: Navigate to the People section.
  2. Select Your Profile: Tap on your profile icon.
  3. Change Your PIN: Choose Keypad PIN and enter the new PIN you wish to set.
  4. Check Existing PINs: Use the Reminders feature to view currently used PINs and avoid duplication.

If you are a Partner, Family member, or Guest, you will need to ask the Owner to change your PIN for you.

Resetting Your Keypad PIN

To reset your Keypad PIN, you have two options:

  1. Via People Section:

    • Go to People, select your icon, and choose a new PIN. Refer to the Reminders to ensure you don’t select an existing PIN.
  2. Through HomeShield Settings:

    • Navigate to HomeShield Settings > My Keypad PIN and select Show PIN to reveal your current PIN.

Managing Low Battery Notifications

When the batteries in your keypad drop to around 20% power, you will receive a notification indicating that the battery is low. This gives you time to replace the batteries before the keypad goes offline.

Note: If your keypad does go offline due to low battery, you can still change modes for your siren using your app or voice assistant.

Changing Your Keypad Battery

The HomeShield keypad uses 2 x CR123A batteries located in the battery compartment at the back of the keypad. Here’s how to change them:

  1. Access the Battery Compartment:

    • Hold the keypad from the bottom and pull up to release the front from the clips on the backing plate.
  2. Replace the Batteries:

    • Ensure the new batteries are inserted correctly.
  3. Power Restoration Cycle:

    • After inserting the batteries, the keypad will go through a power restoration cycle:
      • Long beep
      • 3 icons flash red simultaneously
      • 3 icons flash white simultaneously
      • No icons
      • 2 icons will then come back on
  4. Reattach the Keypad:

    • Once the cycle is complete, place the keypad back on the backing plate by slotting the top into the clip and pressing it against the plate until secure.

By following these steps, you can effectively manage your Keypad PIN and battery for optimal performance.
