Answer
HomeShield has three modes, Home, Sleep and Away. You can configure which devices trigger the alarm and which devices respond to suit your home and needs. You can also choose who will be notified from your trusted contacts that can share your HomeShield experience with.
To configure your Mode settings, go to Manage HomeShield from the main menu, and select Modes
You can also hold and press a Mode from the dashboard to go straight to that Mode’s settings
Away Mode
-
Away mode can be used when everyone is out of the house so that unexpected activity can trigger the alarm.
-
Customise the settings using ‘When’ and ‘Then’
-
‘When’ allows you to set the devices which trigger the alarm, such as sensors and cameras, and if you just want cameras to monitor for activity to record but not trigger the alarm. Think about whether your camera will see movement such as trees blowing in the wind, or shadows before using it to trigger the alarm, as this will cause false alarms.
-
‘Then’ settings allow you to set the devices which respond when the alarm is triggered, such as the Siren, Hive lights or plugs, and who will be notified from your trusted contacts.
-
Notifications can be managed in the Notification preferences from the main menu. Countdown settings can also be edited from the HomeShield menu.
-
To turn Away mode on, either tap away then activate in the app or Apple watch or use the keypad
Home Mode
Home mode is ideal for when you and your family are at home, but you still want outside cameras monitoring so you know what is happening outside.
-
To set up or change your Home mode settings, go to HomeShield settings, then Modes, then modes or press and hold the Home button from the dashboard
-
Choose which cameras you want to monitor while you are at home. Simply switch the toggle on that camera to turn this on. This will over-ride any existing schedules you may have set before using HomeShield. Make sure you turn any cameras on here if you want them to be monitoring for activity while you are at home.
-
When you first use HomeShield it will automatically be in Home mode. You can then use Home mode to disarm HomeShield when it is in either Sleep or Away mode.
Sleep Mode
Sleep mode can be used at night to partially arm the home, so some devices that still see movement don't trigger the alarm.
-
To set up or change your Sleep mode settings, go to HomeShield settings, then Modes settings, then Sleep or press and hold the sleep button from the dashboard
-
As with Sleep Mode, “When” allows you to set the devices which trigger the alarm, such as sensors and cameras, or if you just want cameras to monitor for activity but not trigger the alarm.
-
“Then” allows you to set the devices which respond when the alarm is triggered, such as the Siren, Hive lights or plugs, and who will be notified from your trusted contacts. Notifications can be managed in the Notification preferences from the main menu. Countdown settings can also be edited from the HomeShield menu.

To turn Sleep mode on, either tap sleep, then activate in the app or Apple watch or use the keypad with your unique PIN
