FreeCharge: Using the Hive App

After you’ve onboarded your EV charger to the Hive app, setting up FreeCharge is simple. The app will guide you through the process, but here’s a guide of how to do it:

  1. Open the Hive App:

    • Launch the Hive app on your mobile device.
    • Navigate to the charger settings and tap on 'Schedule'.

  2. Select FreeCharge:

    • Choose the FreeCharge option. If you’re not eligible, it will display as Power+.

  3. Get Started:

    • You'll be provided with information about FreeCharge.
    • Tap 'Let’s get started' to begin the setup.

  4. Read Information Screens:

    • Follow the on-screen instructions and read through the information provided.

  5. Understand Credits:

    • Learn how credits are calculated and applied to your account.

  6. Link Your British Gas Account:

    • Connect your British Gas account to complete the setup.

Hive Wallet

Hive Wallet will provide a snapshot view of your savings and credit earned when using FreeCharge or Power+ for EV charging.

Access to your Hive Wallet is simple. All you need to do is:

  1. Tap into your EV charger in the Hive app
  2. Tap on the graph icon in the top right
  3. Once you are on the activity summary page and you can see your total FreeCharge credit

Tap on the arrow in the credit box and this will take you through to your wallet.

Here, you will be able to view:

  • Total FreeCharge credits earned
  • ‘This month’ snapshot including number of charging sessions, average cost per charge and average charge duration
  • Credits per day
