SmartCharge: Using the Hive App

Setting up SmartCharge in the Hive App is simple, the app will guide you through the process, but here's a guide of how to do it:

  1. Navigate to EV Charger Settings:

    • Open the Hive app.
    • Go to the EV Charger settings menu.
    • Tap on 'Schedule'.

  2. Select Scheduling Options:

    • Here, you’ll find a variety of scheduling options to choose from.

  3. Charge Off-Peak:

    • Select ‘Off Peak’ to ensure you’re charging at your tariff’s cheapest rate during off-peak hours only.

  4. SmartCharge Saver Option:

    • Eligible customers will see a ‘SmartCharge Saver’ option.
    • This feature allows you to earn money back on your energy bill.
    • Ensure your tariff details include the correct peak and off-peak times and prices for you.

Hive Wallet

Hive Wallet will provide a snapshot view of your savings and credit earned when using FreeCharge or SmartCharge for EV Charging.  

Access to your Hive Wallet is simple. All you need to do is:

  1. Tap into your EV charger in the Hive app
  2. Tap on the graph icon in the top right
  3. Once you are on the activity summary page and you can see your total Smart/FreeCharge credit

Tap on the arrow in the credit box and this will take you through to your wallet.

Here, you will be able to view:

  • Total Smart/FreeCharge credits earned
  • ‘This month’ snapshot including number of charging sessions, average cost per charge and average charge duration
  • Credits per day
