Three years ago, we shared that our Smart Security products would be phased out by August 2025.
As an eco-tech company, this decision was made to allow us to focus our attention on developing energy-efficient smart-tech solutions, making our homes both cheaper and greener to run.
In line with that announcement, we wanted to remind you that your cameras and smart security products will no longer function from the 1st of August 2025 at 11:00 am (BST). Providing you save any video footage required onto your own personal devices, we will cover everything else on our side, including cancelling your subscription payments.
Hive View Cameras
Will I still be able to access my Video Footage after the cut-off period?
It is crucial that you save any required recordings before the cut-off period on the 1st of August 2025. Your data security is important to us, and we take disposal of data seriously. Therefore, our system will be unable to recover any video footage if you fail to save your recordings before the 1st of August 2025.
How to save your videos
To save your video footage, head to the Hive app dashboard and select the camera you want to download the recording from. Tap on the three dots next to the activity you want to store and select ‘Download’.
What will happen to my Hive Video Playback system subscription?
The Hive Video Playback subscription will no longer be charged to your billing account. Your entitlements of video download and sharing features, 10% discount on all Hive products and free delivery on all orders will no longer be available from the 1st of August 2025 at 11:00 am (BST). You do not need to contact us as we will handle all the cancellations on our end.
Will my devices still work?
No. Our Hive View Cameras will no longer work from the 1st of August 2025 at 11:00 am (BST).
Hive HomeShield
What will happen to my Hive HomeShield subscription?
Your Hive HomeShield subscription will end from 1st of August 2025 at 11:00 am (BST). That includes all alarm, camera and timeline features. We’ll cancel your payments automatically, so there’s nothing you need to do.
Will my devices still work?
No. Our Keypad and Siren will no longer work from the 1st of August 2025 at 11:00 am (BST).
Will my HomeShield devices still work?
No, the Hive HomeShield system and accompanying devices will no longer work from the 1st of August 2025 at 11:00 am (BST). That includes Hive View cameras, sirens and keypads.
However, the Hive Window/Door contact sensors and Hive motion sensors will continue to function as normal. If these devices are linked to your Homeshield you will need to recalibrate your schedule settings. To reset your schedules, select the device on your dashboard and go into ‘Actions’, then select the ‘+’ to get started.

How to remove my devices from the App?
To remove your devices from the app, go into the Manage tab and then select ‘Devices’. Once you have done this, select the device you want to remove and select ‘Remove device’.
Can I recycle my camera and security devices?
Yes, please do. You can recycle your devices at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
