NOTE: The remove button will only appear when the thermostat or receiver is offline.
If you remove a thermostat or receiver from your account, both devices will be deleted to ensure they can be correctly paired again later.
When you're ready to re-add them, make sure to pair the receiver first, followed by the thermostat. This helps everything work smoothly.
Understanding Your Receiver Status Light (top right light)

Left - Single Channel Receiver (Combi boiler - heating control only)/Right - Dual Channel Receiver (conventional boiler - heating and hot water control)
Connected mode (Online)
TIP: For your receiver to change from double flashing orange/amber > single orange/amber > green, your Hive Hub will need to be in pairing mode.
- Double orange/amber flash – Receiver is searching for your Hive Hub.
- Single orange/amber flash – Receiver has found the hub and is now ready to pair with the thermostat.
- Solid green – The Receiver has connected to both the hub and the thermostat and will now operate online via the Hive app and locally via the physical thermostat.
Standalone mode (Offline)
- Single pink/white flash – The receiver is searching for a thermostat to enter standalone mode. If paired in this mode, your thermostat will work via the thermostat only, it will not function via the Hive app.
- If you wish to pair in standalone mode, please see Standalone Mode for Hive Thermostats.
Resetting and Pairing Your Hive Heating Devices (Receiver and Thermostat)
CAUTION: Make sure to take the batteries out of your thermostat while you're pairing the receiver.
- Turn off the isolation switch for the boiler/central heating system.
This will power down your Hive receiver, and all the lights on the device will go out.
- Turn the isolation switch back on then press and hold the "central heating (flame icon)" button on the receiver until the status light starts to flash either pink/white or amber.
- If the status light flashes pink/white, then release the button, please, and press and hold again until the status light changes to a double flashing amber light, then release.
- Place the Hive Hub into pairing mode by navigating to the ‘Get started’ screen or ‘+ Add a device’ button (Manage tab) and select ‘Smart Heating’ and press the start button. Your hub will then start flashing amber, indicating that it’s looking for devices to pair.
- Once the status light changes to a single flash of amber, you can then reset the thermostat.
NOTE: The receiver will time out after 40 minutes and exit pairing mode. The status light will then change to a solid amber if not fully paired within this timescale. If this happens, please follow from step 1 above to put back into double amber flashing (pairing mode)
Please locate your thermostat and refer to the images and steps provided below to perform a reset.

Hive 1 Thermostat

- While holding both "+" and "-" buttons, reinsert the battery to power it up.
- Keep holding the "+" and "-" buttons until "FIND" appears (10 second countdown); if released early and "REJOIN" shows, take the batteries back out and repeat from step 1.
- When pairing is complete, "FIND" disappears and the temperature displays. Ensure the receiver’s status light turns green, then exit the install screen in the app.
NOTE: If you have Hive Radiator Valve's, they will need to be linked to the heating zone to enable Heat on Demand again. This can be done by following the steps below.
