Incorrect Date/Time Displayed on Thermostat

Answer

If your Hive thermostat is displaying the wrong date or time, this guide will help you correct it.

The first step is to check how your thermostat is currently operating:

  • Connected Mode – your thermostat is paired with a Hive Hub and you can control your heating on the Hive app.
  • Standalone Mode – your thermostat is not connected to a Hive Hub, therefore you will not be able to control your heating from the Hive app.

Identifying the mode will help determine the right troubleshooting steps to get your thermostat showing the correct date and time again.

TIP: When the clocks change your Hive Thermostat will automatically change time, meaning you don't have to do anything. However, if you're experiencing any problems with the time, follow the steps below.

Connected Mode Troubleshooting

Start by identifying which thermostat model you have, then follow the steps for removing that specific model.  TIP: Not sure which thermostat you have? Click on the names of the thermostats below to see images of them and instructions on how to remove the batteries.

TIP: Your Hive Hub will look similar to one of the images above and is normally connected to your broadband router via an Ethernet cable. Our Hub 360 (right image) is wireless connection only, so is recommended to be in a central position in the home. Our Nano 3 Hub (left image) can be wireless or Ethernet connected.

  • Unplug your Hive Hub from its power source  CAUTION: If you have a Hub 360, unplug it from the wall socket only — do not pull the cable from the hub itself.
  • Restart your broadband router by unplugging it and plugging it back in.

Step 3: Reconnect Your Hive Devices in the Correct Order

1. Turn your Hive Hub back on

  • Wait for your Wi‑Fi to reconnect.
TIP: You can check this by testing the internet on a phone, tablet, or laptop.
  • Once your Wi‑Fi is working again, plug the Hive Hub back in.
  • The hub will show its online when the lights display:
    • Nano Hub 2/3: Solid green light
    • Hub 360: No lights or a purple circle (hub muted)

2. Turn your boiler back on

Switch your boiler back on at the isolation switch.
The receiver light will flash amber and then turn solid green.

3. Reinsert your thermostat batteries

Once the batteries are back in, your thermostat should reconnect automatically and show the correct time.
