Saver Mode is a Hive+ feature designed to help reduce your energy usage effortlessly. Once activated, it intelligently adjusts your heating settings, like reducing temperature slightly when you're away or asleep, without compromising on comfort. It’s a “set it and forget it” tool that works behind scenes to save on your bills. How to Enable Saver Mode - Open the Hive app and head to the Automation or Manage tab.
- Find the Saver Mode toggle and switch it on.
- Optional: Adjust sensitivity or scheduling preferences if your app version supports them.
- Saver Mode runs automatically from then on, adapting to household activity and external temperatures.
How It Works Saver Mode monitors numerous factors like: - Room temperature and thermostat settings
- Time of day (e.g., when you're likely out or asleep)
- Heating patterns in each room
- External weather conditions
Using this information, it dynamically lowers heat by a degree or two during low-activity periods, helping you save energy with minimal impact on. Customising Saver Mode You remain in control of how Saver Mode behaves: - Choose which adjustments are allowed – e.g., lowering temperature, shortening heating times.
- Set limits on adjustments – e.g., never lower by more than X degrees, never shorten by more than Y minutes.
- Opt in or out of each type of change to tailor Saver Mode to your preferences.
How Saver Mode Works with Budget Tracker Saver Mode also works hand-in-hand with your Budget Tracker. - If your projected spend is on or under budget, Saver Mode won’t make any changes to your schedule.
- If your usage is forecast to go over budget, Saver Mode automatically applies smart adjustments to help bring you back within your chosen limit.
What to Expect - A short onboarding process will let you customise your Saver Mode preferences (e.g. opting in/out of changes and setting adjustment limits).
- After activation, the app displays a notification confirming Saver Mode is active.
- On colder days, Frost Protect ensures heating kicks in if temperatures drop too low.
- You’ll see estimated savings in-app over time, depending on your region and settings.
- You can turn Saver Mode off at any time just as easily as turning it on.
