Battery Replacement

  • The app will notify you when the batteries need to be replaced. You can also check manually by tapping the button below the screen. If the screen remains blank or shows a battery symbol, replace the batteries with two new alkaline AA batteries.

Steps to Replace Batteries:

Start by rotating the valve anti-clockwise until the screen faces away and the tab is visible, then follow the below instructions to remove the Hive Radiator Valve:

  1. Press down on the tab while keeping it depressed.
  2. Slide the casing off while the tab is depressed.
  3. Rotate the valve anti-clockwise to access the battery compartment.

TIP: The Hive Radiator Valve uses two alkaline AA batteries (avoid Lithium or rechargeable batteries).

After replacing the batteries, rotate the valve anti-clockwise until the screen is visible again. Tap the button to ensure the screen lights up. Then slide the cover back on, ensuring the window aligns with the screen.

NOTE: If you don’t replace the batteries when they get critically low, the valve will set itself partly open to ensure some warmth whenever the heating is on.

How to Remove Your Hive Radiator Valve:

Follow these steps to take your Hive Radiator Valve off your radiator:

  1. Press the button under the screen for 3 seconds. The valve will vibrate and show an M on the screen to tell you it has entered install/remove mode.
  2. Hold the valve either side of the screen and rotate it anti-clockwise until the tab is visible.
  3. Depress the tab and, while keeping the tab depressed, slide the casing off.
  4. Depress the button next to the battery compartment. While keeping the button firmly depressed, rotate your Hive Radiator Valve anti-clockwise to unscrew it from the valve body.

TIP: If the valve is stuck, arrange for a plumber or engineer to remove the valve to prevent any damage.

  4. Rotate the valve anti-clockwise until the screen faces forwards.
  5. Press the button under the screen for 3 seconds. The valve will vibrate and show your chosen temperature.

Factory Reset

In some cases, you may wish to return a Hive Radiator Valve to factory settings.

Factory resetting a Hive Radiator Valve will remove it from the Hive app and delete all associated settings. You will need to re-install the Hive Radiator Valve to control it again.

Steps to Factory Reset:

1. Using the Hive App: If your Radiator Valve (TRV) is online in the Hive app, you can factory reset it by selecting “Remove” from its Settings menu.

2. Direct Reset:

  • Take the batteries out (refer to the User Guide for more info).
  • Hold down the button below the screen.
  • Put the batteries back in while still holding the button down.
  • Continue to hold the button down for 5 seconds.
  • The display will flash and then show all segments lit - you can release the button at this point.
  • The Hive Radiator Valve will reset all settings to factory defaults and then restart in installation mode.
