Answer
NOTE: To remove your hub in the app, make sure the old one is offline first—removal won’t show up in the settings until it is. If you're upgrading your hub, it's best to delete all devices in the app before removing it. This will automatically reset them and put them into pairing mode, so you won’t need to reset each one manually like in the steps below.
To set up the replacement hub, follow the steps below:
Nano 2/2.5: Plug the replacement hub into the router using the ethernet cable provided, then connect it to power. The hub will flash green for up to 30 minutes and will display a solid green light with a flashing amber light when it is ready to pair.

Nano 3: If you are connecting your Nano 3 via Ethernet, plug the replacement hub into the router using the Ethernet cable provided, then connect it to power. The hub will flash green for up to 10 minutes and will display a solid green light with a flashing amber light when it is ready to pair.
If you're planning to connect your Nano 3 using Wi-Fi, you can skip this part—don’t worry, the app will walk you through the wireless setup during installation.
Open the Hive app. After reviewing this content, the ‘Remove device’ button will become active.
CAUTION: Please be advised that hub removal should only be performed in cases where the hub is faulty and requires replacement or when upgrading to a new hub.
What to do after you’ve removed your Hub in the app
Once the hub has been removed from your account, you will be navigated back to the ‘Get started’ install device screen
- Tap on ‘other Hive devices’, then select the hub you want to install and enter the Hub ID found on the underside of the Hive Hub. This will link the new hub to your account.
- If you are choosing to install a Nano 3 via Wi-Fi, please select this option during the install process and link using your Wi-Fi password.
- Now that you have a new hub installed on your account, you will need to pair the devices.
TIP: If you have a Hive Plug or Hive Booster, make sure to reset and pair it first—it helps boost the connection for your other Hive devices. If you don’t have one, you can skip ahead to the heating zone reset and pairing section.
